Who we are

Kins is a family-run business built by Andrew and Emma in Yorkshire, England. We are responsible for the Kins website’s launch-notification list, optional marketing-email list and optional website analytics. For questions about this policy or your information, email privacy@kins.app.

Information you add

Kins lets you add names, dates, relationships, photographs, videos, voice recordings, notes, measurements and other family memories. This can include information about children. You decide what to add and who to invite.

Where your memories live

Your archive is stored on your device. When iCloud is available, it is backed up to your private Apple iCloud account using CloudKit. Kins does not operate a separate server that stores or reads your private memories.

How information is used

Information you add is used to create your family archive, timelines, stories, growth views, reminders, exports and the other features you choose. Processing of your private memories happens on your device or through your iCloud account.

Device permissions

Kins asks only when a feature needs access to photos, camera, microphone, speech recognition, location or notifications. You can refuse or change any permission in iPhone or iPad Settings. Location may be used to add place or historical-weather context; voice and speech access support audio memories and title suggestions.

Services that help Kins work

Apple provides iCloud, notifications, speech services and App Store purchases. RevenueCat validates purchases and subscription access and may process an anonymous app-user identifier, purchase status and device information. Optional context features request public information from providers such as weather, music, books and reference services; those requests may include a date, broad location or search term, but never your private photos, videos, recordings or notes.

Family sharing

If you invite someone, the information you choose to share is made available to that person through Apple’s private CloudKit sharing. People with contribution access can add content. You can review and remove access in Family settings.

No advertising or behavioural tracking

Kins does not sell your personal information, show behavioural advertising or use third-party advertising trackers. Apple may provide opt-in crash diagnostics under your Apple privacy settings.

Launch notifications

If you ask us to let you know when Kins is available, we store your name, email address, the time of your request and the wording you agreed to in a private file on our website’s Hostinger hosting account. We rely on your consent to send the availability notice. We do not add you to a general marketing list or share your address with advertisers. We keep the address until we have sent the availability notice or you ask us to remove it, then delete it within 30 days. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@kins.app.

Optional Kins emails

Our free booklets and resources download immediately without an email address or marketing consent. After a download, you can separately choose an unticked checkbox and submit your email address to receive occasional Kins emails about new keepsakes, app news and offers. We rely on your consent. This is a separate list from launch notifications.

We store your email address, consent time and wording, the version of that wording, and the collection resource where you signed up in private files on our Hostinger hosting account. We keep this information while you are subscribed. We do not sell your address or share it with advertisers.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our marketing emails or by emailing privacy@kins.app. After an unsubscribe, we retain a minimal record of your email address and unsubscribe status to avoid contacting you again. You can ask us to erase this record too. We do not submit your email address if you leave the checkbox unticked or close the optional form.

Website arrival cards

The free arrival-card experience processes the optional first name, birth date and country in your browser. These details are held in memory for the current page, are not submitted to Kins, and are not included in website analytics. Public historical data, name references and artwork are loaded from this website without including your child’s details in the request. If you use the optional birthplace lookup, the place search is sent directly to a third-party geocoding service. After you choose a place, the birth date and its coordinates are sent to a third-party weather service to obtain historical weather, sunrise and sunset; the child’s name is never sent. The selected coordinates are also sent to NASA’s climate service to find the monthly 1991–2020 temperature average; this request contains no child name or birth date. For media artwork that is unavailable in our local archive, public song or film titles may be sent to Apple’s iTunes search API or Wikipedia to find matching covers and posters; your child’s name, date and birthplace are not included. Book and other media artwork uses the app’s source providers. Audio previews are played from Apple Music only when you press play. Opening the cinema curtains loads a film trailer in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player; game trailers load it only after you choose to play them. These providers receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address.

You choose which facts and whether a name appear on the card. The image and suggested caption omit the actual birth date and birthplace. Saving creates an image on your device; sharing passes the image and caption to the app you choose. That service’s own privacy settings and policy apply. We do not upload or host your personalised card. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the details from the experience.

Website baby-name quiz

The free baby-name quiz matches names in your browser using a catalogue loaded from this website. Your answers and favourites are held in memory for the current page and are not submitted to Kins or included in website analytics. Refreshing or leaving the page clears them. If you choose to copy your shortlist, its names, meanings and source links are copied to your device’s clipboard. Opening a name’s source takes you to that publisher’s website, whose own privacy policy applies. Downloading the booklet does not require an email address or account.

Optional website analytics

With your consent, kins.love uses Google Analytics to understand website visits, page views, engagement, referrals and successful launch-notification requests. Google receives technical information such as browser and device details and processes your IP address to derive approximate location. Analytics uses first-party cookies (including _ga) to distinguish visits. We configure these cookies to last up to six months and remember your cookie choice in your browser for six months.

Analytics stays off until you choose “Allow analytics”. Choose “No thanks” to browse without it, or use “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time to change your choice. Declining after accepting stops analytics and removes its cookies from this website. We do not send signup names or email addresses, URL query strings or fragments, or private family memories to Analytics. Advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled. This website measurement does not add analytics to the Kins app.

Google may process website analytics data outside the UK. Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s information about Analytics data. For questions or to exercise your rights, contact privacy@kins.app.

Your control and rights

You can edit or delete entries in Kins, export an archive, remove invited people and delete local data by deleting the app. You can manage Kins data stored in iCloud from your Apple account settings. Data retained by Apple or RevenueCat is subject to their policies and legal obligations.

You can ask us to access, correct or erase personal information we hold about you and to stop launch notifications or marketing emails. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your information.
